I provided UI design for this iPhone and Android app, currently in the app store (Spring 2015). This is a religiously-themed app to help people study the Torah while on the go. Many rabbis create podcasts and class series, and until now, users needed to download the audio file to their mobile device to keep current with the schedule. Many busy religious students prefer to listen to classes while traveling to and from work on their daily commute, and it became apparent a more robust mobile app was in order.
Many religious-themed apps have minimal funding and lack any visual finesse or style. The mandate for this app was to make it look cool – and hopefully have a look which wouldn’t look outdated for a few more years, since funding for updates might be hard to come by.
As UI designer, I went with Android’s Material Design standards, and pushed the envelope a bit further in some areas. The client was super happy, and the app was immediately well-received.
